"Captain"
In a few simple words, Captain is my “heart dog.” He is my perfect dog.
Captain was not only my introduction to the wonderful world of Belgians, but also to the world of dogs. Roxanne and Tim decided to take a chance on me, a new Belgian person. I was lucky in how everything came together, and a very short time later Captain came home with me.
I had no idea what showing dogs was. I didn’t know what dog performance sports were. Roxanne asked that I take him to class, because she wanted him shown. I agreed, and soon found that I really enjoyed training with him. Obedience class was fun, conformation class was fun. Captain was eager to please, and forgiving of my mistakes. We’ve passed CGC testing, completed therapy dog certification, passed herding instinct testing (him, not me, I apparently have no instinct). We have at this time earned our Conformation Championship, our RN and CD, and we are beginning training for agility. I don’t know how far we will go; I really am his greatest handicap, but I think that is true in all areas.
Captain is exceptionally empathic. He is always up for anything, and can be a real snuggle bunny. I can not imagine my life without everything that he adds to it, and I am thankful everyday for his goofy smile and big Belgian lean.
