Why chicken's...? Well, I think the idea got started when we
visited a beautiful kennel in Holland several years ago. They had
wonderful gardens in and around the kennel area and a few "very pretty"
chickens. I thought what a nice addition, so when I recently fenced off an
area for a garden, the chicken idea came to me.
So, we ordered
three "hens" from a local feed dealer and I chose the Delaware breed and
named them Veronica and Betty. John being from Portugal wanted an old
fashioned Portuguese style chicken and chose the more popular Rhode Island
Red. He named her "Stu" as a joke. Well, the joke was on us, as Stu lived
up to his name as a rooster! Stu's story continue's at a later update....

They have been a wonderful addition, as I wasn't
sure if I was making a mistake, but they have proved to be more fun and
entertaining than I could have imagined. I've definitley been bitten by
the chicken bug....maybe another new addition in the spring??
