Aggression
Any dog who is capable of protection has the potential for
aggression. Given the right set of circumstances, any dog of any
breed can bite. With common sense and proper training, confrontation
can be avoided as long as you:
-
Never disturb a sleeping dog, even with a caress, without
first waking him by speaking to him.
-
Never attempt to give painful treatment without first
muzzling.
-
Never take a bone or food away form a dog or even pat a dog
while he's eating unless you have a very good reason for doing so.
-
Never offer a dog a tidbit and then snatch it away.
-
Never keep a dog chained where he can be teased by other
dogs or children. If he has to bite in order to defend himself, he may
remain over-aggressive thereafter.
-
Never handle a dog roughly, especially around the
genitalia.
-
Never let your go become over excited at play.
