February 2010

Dory had a good weekend at the IKC benched show in Chicago! After warming up with a RWB on Thursday, Friday she went WB for a major and Saturday she won WB/BOW at the supported entry for another major! She showed well on Sunday as well, but it wasn't to be her day. Dory has been presented beautifully by her breeder and co-owner, Karen Fitzpatrick of Meadowlake Terriers!

December 2009

Dory is inching along earning another point for Winner's Bitch on Saturday in Belleville. Sunday she was Reserve.

Early in the month, Cody and Claudia started the process of earning the next set of performance level titles by finishing his Rally Advanced title and also earned his first Open A Obedience leg with a second place! They go back to training, as there are no more local trials for them until mid February. Cody did enjoy herding on the way home from his titling trial. Now he's a happy, muddy boy!

November 2009

It seems so far Cody is enjoying his career as a special. On the 15th,Cody won the Breed under breeder judge, Richard Lewis at the Whidbey Island Kennel Club in Monroe WA. Nancy handled him to this noteworthy win! Good job! We anticipate that this will be only the first of many more.

Dory has begun her show career! This weekend, she started with a reserve winner's bitch and earned her first point today by going Winner's Bitch. Since things are crazed for us at work, we have decided to send Dory out with friends Laura King and Erin Gimbut. As professionals, they get to many more shows than we would be able to. I have to say though, waiting at home for news is going to give me gray hair!!!

September 2009

Connor had another good ED weekend at Purina Farm, earning his third Master leg. He found and marked the "extra" scent, including the fox urine that was hidden along the walk-up. Connor is developing into a nice hunter! Not only is he using his nose, but he is a respectful and agreeable brace-mate to various breeds including both males and bitches.

Int/Am/Can CH Monarch Savanna Dance CD PT RN NA NAJ CGC, "Cody" had a good show weekend at the Regional/Supported entry in Carson City. Owner Claudia Weiss and Cody received the nod for an Award of Merit on Friday, which was a nice warm up for Best of Breed on Sunday. With a long drive in front of them, Claudia decided not to stay for the group.....next time, guys!

Connor is really having fun in the Master class. His second try produces his second Master leg! He seems to be hunting well - not ranging too far, checking in with me - and negotiating the tunnel to the quarry and working them enthusiastically. Calmly waiting his turn while "honoring" his brace-mate - this boy is just so cool! All-in-all, the Labor Day weekend tests at Roscoe have been GREAT! Three trials, three legs - including a new title - and friends to share the excitement and fun.

Connor had another great Earthdog day! We earned his first Master Earthdog leg on the first try with a nice walk up and good, solid work in the tunnel! Earthdog is so much fun, and the comradery is great - but it is particularly cool when you have a great dog to make you look good!

In his last two consecutive attempts, Connor earned the remaining legs that he needed to complete his Senior Earthdog title! He finished this title in only six trials, in what many say is the most difficult level of Earthdog competition - much like the jump from "Started" to "Intermediate" in herding! So now we move on to the Master level...

August 2009

Cody (Int/Am/Can CH Monarch Savanna Dance CD PT RN NA NAJ CGC) earned the first Award of Merit under breeder judge, Joni Freshman, DVM, at the ABTC Regional Specialty hosted by the Evergreen Belgian Tervuren Club in Redmond, Washington. We are so very pleased that Cody continues to be recognized by both breeder and all around judges! We are looking forward to sharing Cody's future successes with his co-owners Claudia Weiss and Nancy McClure! Great job ladies. Cody is from our Dance litter.

June 2009

Team River had another successful outing at the Southern California Belgian Tervuren Club Independent Specialty! On Saturday, June 27, River was awarded the 1st Award of Merit by Judge Robert Shreve. River and Sandi also began their agility career with the following results: Saturday, Agility Novice Standard Preferred 1st place. Sunday, Agility Novice Jumpers Preferred 1st place. Sandi also received very complementary comments from the agility judge about what a great working dog River is! Great news all around - way to go!

The third time is a charm! Connor earned his first Senior Earthdog leg on the third try. He has already learned a lot by figuring out some of the "puzzles" of senior, which is said by many seasoned ED competitors to be the most difficult level. Although he didn't earn a leg in his next run, he worked through a difficult tunnel to the quarry at a quick pace and worked the rats enthusiastically.

May 2009

Connor can now add the title of Junior Earthdog to his name. He completed his final leg at the Roscoe, IL test with compliments from the judge, Gail Laberge. It took him a couple of tries to figure out the game - and that it is not only OK to bark, but encouraged! He is very quick to the quarry and works enthusiastically but still more quietly than we would like. He digs and bounces the trap door while chewing the bars. Tomorrow we will try our hand at the Senior level. The rules change a bit, but we think he is up to it!

March 2009

Cody went back up over the border with his owners for the Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers of BC show in Cloverdale BC. On Friday, Isobel Knight awarded Cody the Group 4.. Saturday, under Douglas Windsor, he took the Group 3, and Sunday, David Eadie awarded him the Group 1! He was the only Herding dog to place all three days. He was handled to his breed wins by Claudia Weiss, and Nancy McClure took him into the group for his wins there.

Cody is just coming into his own as a special and we are looking forward to what the future brings for this young dog! Way to go Claudia and Nancy - what an exciting phone call - we wish we could have been there in person to see it!

November 2008

Savanna is celebrating a new champion!

Honey receives her last point under breeder judge, Susie Williamson to earn her AKC breed championship!Owner Patty Mundine handled Honey for each of her points - including 3 majors. Savanna is proud of your noteworthy accomplishment.

The Dance litter is now an all champion, all CHIC litter!

Honey and Patty had a great weekend at the Belton, TX shows! Saturday Honey went WB/BOW and Sunday she took the Breed over a ranked bitch special! Observers report that they looked great in the group ring! These wins stamp Honey's entry into the 1 point club! Let's hope it is a very short membership :-) Great job ladies.

Connor had fun playing at his second earthdog test! He earned another Instinct Certificate and his first Junior Earthdog leg with enthusiastic work and complementary comments from the judge. He is very keen and quick to the quarry, and it seems that he is figuring out the rules of engagement for this game!

October 2008

Sandi and River (BISS Group Placing CH Savanna MonAmi Riverdance RN) had a wonderful weekend in California! River went Best of Breed at the Northern California Herding Group Association show under Judge Edeltraud Laurin on Friday, and also on Saturday at the Sacramento Valley DFA under judge Glenda Henson! Then on Sunday at the Sunday Sacramento Valley DFA (RBTF Specialty) under Judge Janina Laurin, River went best of Opposite Sex.

After some of life's delays and a litter break at DK Tervuren, Honey and Patty are back in the ring and looking great! WB/BOW for another major - their third - and WB the following day in Canton, TX, brings them closer to their championship. We wish we lived closer to be able to see these two in the ring - way to go ladies!

September 2008

River and Sandi finish their first performance title by earning their 3rd Rally leg for the RN! River is such a focused worker, we are sure there are many more titles in their future. Nice job ladies!

August 2008

Bling made her debut at the Burlington Iowa shows. Winning her class and going on to Best of Opposite Sex to her housemate Connor on both Saturday and Sunday - Bling had great fun on her first show weekend. We wish there had been more competition (since there were absences) but it was a good opportunity for Bling not only to learn about shows and hotel stays, but she also got her CERF. Not a bad debut -- Good girl Bling!

July 2008

July 26, 2008 A New Champion at Savanna

Connor (Kernow's There Can Only be One) finished his AKC championship today by going BOB over multiple specials in Waukesha, WI, under judge Patricia Nemirovsky de Alsina! We have had many champions in our home, but we are particularly excited about this one because while we have trained others and gotten them "ring ready," Connor is the first dog we have finished ourselves - and he did it in grand style with 5 majors -- IN SPITE of us rather than because of us. All of Connor's health clearances came back within the last week too. Numbers are on his page.

River and Sandi have a great day in Carmel, CA! After winning BOB, they went to the group and won their first placement - a Group 4! We can't wait to see the pictures. Hopefully this will be the first of many placements in the group for River. Way to go Sandi and River - CHEERS to you!

June 2008:

River and Sandi had another good day at the Southern California Belgian Tervuren Club's regional specialty. Another Rally leg -- although not as pretty as yesterday -- River redeemed herself by showing beautifully to Best of Opposite Sex under breeder judge, Joni Freshman, DVM. Well done! We wish we could have been there to cheer you on in person. We can't wait to see the photos!

Sandi and River had a successful day at the Southern California Regional Specialty where they earned a 1st place in the Rally Novice class with a score of 98. This is River's first performance leg, and we suspect there will be many more for them in the future.

Today at the All Terrier Show in Gray's Lake, Connor earned his 4th major by winning his class and going on to take winner's dog for the points. We are still learning to be a "team," but we are having great fun on our journey. Connor is just an awesome boy and we couldn't be more happy with him. In addition to being a very nice breed representative, his personality is even more outstanding -- he makes us smile every day.

May 2008

Rob and Indy do it again! First place in their 24" Excellent B run on the second day at the ABTC National. We wish we could have been there to see you run. Wooo Whoo, congratulations Rob!

Rob and Indy (Quazar x Windy son from the "Pictures" litter) won the 24" Excellent B class at the ABTC national specialty. Their time was 10 seconds faster than the 2nd place dog. SMOKIN'!!!!! Run safe, run fast tomorrow!

April 2008

Cody and Claudia are on a roll! Before the ink even had a chance to dry on their new Canadian championship, they can add more letters to their title list. Cody is now also an International Champion. Super job guys!

Cody went with Co-owners Nancy McClure and Claudia Weiss to Canada for the weekend and came home with a Championship and two group placements - a Group 2, and Group 4! That makes Cody Am/Can CH Monarch Savanna Dance CD PT RN NAJ CGC at just 30 months of age! Claudia is Cody's "performance Mom" but she handled him to finish his championship and the G4! Way to go, we are so proud of your accomplishments

March 2008

In addition to the new lambs, we also have 2 new puppies that have joined the household!

Mira, "Fairest of Them All de l'Aurore" is a Terv that we will share with, Roxanne Chumbley of Kindred Belgians. Mira will live with us most of the time at Savanna, and Roxanne will show her and entertain her while she visits "at camp Kindred!" Thanks to Lynn Brandenburg of Tervuren de l'Aurore for wanting Mira to be here with us. We hope that Mira will be able to add a great deal to our breeding program.

Also new to Savanna is Blue Rock Baubles and Trinkets, also known as "Bling" to her friends! Bling has a page of her own under the "Border Terrier" tab. We are very eager to see what the future holds for this adorable girl.

February 2008

Connor had another great weekend at the International KC benched show in Chicago! WD, BOW and Best Puppy both days gives him 2 more majors towards his AKC championship. Saturday, he went on to win a puppy group 4. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay for the puppy groups on Sunday, but we suspect he will have opportunities in the future to shine in the group ring.

We received wonderful news! One of our Dance puppies is now a Versatile Terv at just 26 months of age. Cody is, pending AKC approval, CH Monarch Savanna Dance CD PT RN NAJ (CGC).

Nice puppies + good owners = a winning combination! We'll be seeing a lot more of Claudia and Cody before they are done. Congrats also to Cody's co-owner and his "other Grandma," Nancy McClure.

January 2008

Connor really seems to enjoy this dog show game! Saturday January 26th at Park shore KC under judge Dennis Barnes, he won Best of Winners taking the girls points for his first major! Sunday he had a Wahoo! day and was a bit too animated in the ring but still went Reserve. We have a lot to learn to get into a groove, but Connor has had a super start and we heard many very positive comments about our happy boy.

Claudia and Cody complete their CD title by earning their 3rd leg at the Rose City Classic. We have a suspicion that Cody will be Savanna's first Versatile Terv! Hmmmmm, that's pretty much a no-brainer. Nice work you two.

Connor has started his show career. We were successful in achieving our goal of having fun in the ring. First show weekends at the show site and staying in a hotel can be overwhelming for a puppy, but he took it all in, and looked for more! He had a bit too much fun in the ring too, but with a specials career in front of him, he has plenty of time to be serious. Check back for updates on Connor's adventures.

November 2007

There is another move in the offing - but this time it is the animals who will have the "new home." The barn is completed and NOAA and the girls will be moving into their new digs shortly. It will be nice to have separate housing for the rams and the ewes!

October 2007

Cody and Claudia have been busy -- they earned their RN in three trials and they also have 2 CD legs under their belt! You two are on a roll - what a great team.

September 2007

NOAA is Tilsimli's Storm on the Savanna. He is the latest addition to Savanna "Farm" and when he grows a bit, he will step into the very important role as our flock guardian. He is a natural with the stock! We hope that he will follow in the footsteps of some of the wonderful dogs in his pedigree by moving effortlessly between pasture and conformation ring. Although NOAA is still very young, we have high hopes for him in both areas.

August 2007

In an unusual turn of events, we have added a Tonkinese cat to the family. His name is "AsiaTonks Major Domo," or "Higgins" to his friends. Higgins is a beautiful Natural Mink We may even investigate showing him! With energy to rival a Belgian or Border puppy, he has fit right in. Connor, Hunter and Fallon think he is great fun!

June 2007

We are celebrating new champions at Savanna!
In true competitive style, "Dance" brothers, Hunter and Cody, finish their conformation championships on the same day - both with 4 point majors! Hunter went WD/BOW under Robert Moore, and Cody received his 4th major from Pat Hastings. So pending AKC approval, Hunter is now CH Savanna's Calypso Breeze and Cody is CH Monarch Savanna Dance PT CGC.
What an exciting and memorable day.

Claudia and Cody earn their PT at the GSD Club of Western WA trial. Terv-owner judges, Cathy Modica and Judy Vanderford offered very complimentary remarks about Cody and their runs. Good job Claudia, let the fun begin!

May 2007

Connor, also known as Kernow's There Can Be Only One, joins the Savanna crew! It seems strange to see a mahogany and black pup with drop ears. He is an incredibly sweet and happy boy, and we are looking forward to getting him into the show ring. Connor is a Border Terrier.

April 2007

Bogie and Paul finish the Rally Novice title in style with another placement! These two are having a great time together. Thanks Paul and Sue for being such a great home for Bogie!

March 2007

We have had a population explosion at Savanna! We have new lambs -- singles and multiple sets of twins and triplets! Pictures are on the Katahdin page.

Dance pup, Savanna's Calypso Breeze, aka Hunter, was awarded Winner's Dog and Best Of Winners by breeder judge, Sandra King for a 5 point major at the Midwest Regional Specialty hosted by the Great Lakes Belgian Tervuren Club! We are very proud of Hunter and we appreciate all of the support of friends, both old and new, as we start over - this time with a pup that is "home grown." We are looking forward to having a lot of fun with this wonderful boy!

February 2007

Jake and Paul finish their RN! With 2 housemates in season, Jake was ...shall we say, a bit distracted during his performances this weekend, but he got the legs he needed to finish his title, with placements on 2 of the 3 legs! They have been working on advanced and excellent exercises, so more to come from them in the near future.

January 2007

Another "Dance pup" earns letters! Cody, major pointed Monarch Savanna Dance, earned his CGC. Congratulations to Cody and Claudia on the first of many accomplishments you will experience together. We are proud of you - way to go!

River starts the year with an Award of Merit in Palm Springs! At just 13 months of age, she is just learning about the "specials" ring. She and Sandi have started agility class too, and she is having great fun. She appears to be a speed demon in the making...........looks like River is following in brother Indy's (Pictures litter) paw prints and is going to be another agility star!

December 2006

After months of working with his previous owners to resolve some behavioral issues, the decision was made in Pirate's best interest that he come back to Savanna. We are appreciative that they recognized that a confident, adolescent male Tervuren was not a good match for their first-time Belgian home. Hunter Green collar Dance pup, Savanna's Calypso Breeze, aka Pirate, will now be known as Hunter. He is a happy, waggy boy and he is thriving with us and thoroughly enjoying his Belgian housemates. We are eager to get him back out in the conformation rings and we look forward to starting various performance events too -- so look for us!

Paul and Bogie venture into the obedience ring and bring home their first Rally Novice leg with a 4th place. Way to go - handsome AND smart!

September 2006

Paul and Jake earn their first Rally leg with a 3rd place finish. This should be the first of many performance legs for them. What a team!

Cody and River take the top honors by going Best in Puppy Sweeps and Best of Opposite in Puppy Sweeps at the Regional Specialty in Carson City! This is the second time in just months that they have done this at a Regional -- way to go! Congratulations to Aunt Cheetah for her second specialty Best of Breed! Then, while sister River lounged all weekend, Cody picked up his third major by going WD/BOW at the supported entry on Sunday

We continue to enjoy a wonderful summer at Savanna! Windy, not to be outdone by her kids, had a very nice'n easy run at the GLBTC trial to earn a qualifying score and 4th place in her class, which gave her the last leg needed to finish her HIAs title. Now she starts on her Advaned title. Not bad for a City Girl!

Pirate has another good weekend in Iowa! Winner's Dog on Saturday, and Best of Winner's and Best Puppy on Sunday. Unfortunately, he couldn't show in the puppy group, but he is looking great and showing beautifully!

August 2006

Cody wraps up the Regional Specialty weekend by going Winner's Dog and Best of Winners and capturing his second major at the supported entry at the Sammamish Kennel Club show under judge Robert Frost. This kind of weekend doesn't come along very often, we wish we could have been there in person to see it, but the ringside reports were the next best thing. Good job puppies and congratulations to Aunt Cheetah and Uncle Tyler, new BISS, too!

Savanna is pleased to announce that River (Bubble Gum from the Dance litter) finished her Championship by going Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners both days at the Evergreen Belgian Tervuren Club Regional Specialty. So pending AKC confirmation, River may now be known as BISS CH Savanna MonAmi Riverdance -- finishing from the 6-9 puppy class! River was also Best of Opposite in Puppy Sweeps today to her brother Cody, Monarch Savanna Dance (Cobalt Blue Dancer), who not only was Best in Sweeps, but was awarded Winner's Dog for the major. Cody was also awarded Best in Match the evening prior!

Pirate was the last Dancer to venture into the conformation ring at the Burlington Iowa shows this month. Handled to his wins by our good friend Roxanne Chumbley, Pirate accumulated points by going Winner's Dog both days (no bitches shown on Sunday) with very complimentary remarks from the judges. Unfortunately, both of the majors broke but Pirate and crew had a fun weekend anyway!

Cody went up north of the border to Canada for some shows and ring experience. He won Best Puppy on numerous occasions and garnered a Puppy Group 1 at the Glacier View Kennel Club under judge Bud Haverstock on Aug 10, 2006. He had a great time -- and some might think this puppy had a bit too much fun! No points yet, but another trip is in the offing after this boy matures a bit. We've been told this boy thinks the world is a party in his honor -- look out world, here he comes, and we are going to enjoy the ride!

July 2006

River and Sandi are continuing on their winning ways earning more points in California, among other wins, going WB/BOS over specials! Nice team work ladies.

Honey and Patty do it again! For the second weekend in a row, they win a major (WB, BOW, BOS), this time in San Antonio. After a bit of ring experience and learning the ropes of big and hectic shows, it looks like Honey is starting to enjoy this "show girl" thing. You're on your way -- YOU GO GIRLS!

"Honey" Savanna's Shall We Dance, made her show debut at 7 1/2 months by dancing into the ring at the Houston shows and waltzing away with a 4 point major under judge Michelle Billings. A nice way to start a show career ladies, way to go!

June 2006

River makes her AKC show debut at the Regional Specialty hosted by the Belgian Tervuren Club of Southern California. At just 6 months and 2 weeks old, River won Best in Sweepstakes under long time, respected Belgian breeder, Lorra Miller (Isengard). In regular classes, she won Winner's Bitch, and in a ring with more than 16 specials, she went on to take BEST OF BREED for a 5 point major! Huge congratulations to Sandi Weldon on this win, we hope it is a harbinger of good things to come for them. Ring observers said River showed like a polished pro!

May 2006

Some of the Dance puppies are hitting the rings for matches to practice for AKC conformation events! Cody and River have both won the Puppy Herding Group against puppies much older than themselves. Cody has also been spending time on the herding fields too, and will be ready to get started in that venue as soon as he is old enough.

February 2006

Rob and Indy earn their AX title. Now they can start to accumulate those MACH points as they are moving on to Excellent B standard. Rob and his boys Kodi and little brother, Indy make it look so easy! We are so proud of your accomplishments -- great job!

December 2005

Windy finished 2005 ranked as the #12 Belgian Tervuren in All-Breed Points! We are especially proud of this accomplishment as she acquired these points in only 4 appearances in all-breed shows for the entire year, where she won BOB in each appearance with competition. She also won a group placement in each of the three times she ventured into the group ring. She just keeps getting better with age!

November 2005

Here are some results just in from Rob's last agility adventure....... Indy is running Excellent A now in both standard and jumpers. He earned his first standard leg last weekend. 167 yards in 39.94 seconds - that's with pauses on contacts too! Indy is "Border Collie fast" and he and Rob are a great team! Big "brother" Kodi also earned Double Q #11. They are well on their way to their MACH. Way cool !

Indy can now add an OAJ to his resume as he and Rob earned his open jumpers title Saturday in PA the weekend of 11/12. It was his best jumpers run yet as he stopped the clock at 23.25 seconds for 1st place. House mate Kodi also went 3 for 4 with a double Q and 3 first place runs. We're excited for you guys - super job!

October 2005

Jake and Paul finish at the Freeport Illinois show on October 1, 2005 under judge Joe Gregory, earning WD and getting that last point. Jake is now known as CH Savanna's Reap The Wild Wind (pending AKC approval) - Jake is the second champion out of the "You Ought To Be In Pictures" litter......Big congratulations to Paul and Jake! We're glad the 1 point club membership was a short one, now on to performance events!

September 2005

Jake and Paul pick up another major by going Best of Winners at the Tri-City Kennel Club Show in Iowa under judge, KeKe Kahn. This win puts them in the 1 Point Club - hopefully, not for long now that they are back in "show mode!"

Indy and Rob finish their Open Standard title this past weekend(9/17-18/05) and also earn their second jumper's leg. They are runing really well, and thanks to Rob, Indy is really honoring his contacts - way to go you two!

Rob and Indy have been out on the agility fields. Indy stands at 2 open standard legs and 1 open jumpers leg. Over Labor Day weekend, they completed their USDAA Agility Dog title, or AD. Good job guys!

May 2005:

We had a good "Birthday" weekend at Savanna! At just days after his second birthday, Indy (and Dad, Rob) earned his first agility title! Indy is now known as Savanna's Quest For The Grail NA. He is also just one leg away from his NAJ. Rob said his contacts were perfect and his acceleration is incredible. The judge was very complimentary of them both. I know it has been hard for Rob to wait for Indy to grow up so they could start their agility career together -- but they are on their way. Run fast, run safe guys!

Windy spent the weekend herding. On Saturday, she NQ'd her Intermediate run. Sunday was a better day for her -- she earned another leg and a second place.

April 2005:

Team Windy has another great weekend at the Fond du Lac County (WI)show! Windy and Roxanne earn a BOB and Group 3 under Mrs. Edeltraud Laurin, and finished the weekend with a Group 2 the next day. Like a fine wine, Windy just keeps getting better with age!

March 2005:

Windy and Roxanne do it in style! At the Great Lakes Belgian Tervuren Club regional specialty, Windy and Roxanne earn an Award of Merit both days. Saturday, Windy was the only bitch to receive an AOM, and she was the only entry to win an AOM both days! It has been a while since they have been in the ring together, but it seems like this team is still in perfect step. Windy showed her heart out and she and Roxanne have never looked better.

We are very proud of Windy for finishing the year ranked as the #4 Terv
in the herding standings with the ABTC!
Thanks to Sharol Hathaway for her skilled training and handling
as well as her faith in our girl and helping her to be her best!

December:

Jake and Paul earn their first Best of Breed (over specials!) at the Christmas cluster at Rosemont! They also got pulled in a competitive group and were a whisker away from a placement Well, it wasn't to be -- THIS TIME -- but they looked great and will have many, many more opportunities in the group ring in the future. Good job guys!

October:

We are celebrating our first Savanna Champion!

Bogie and Paul finish their championship with their 4th major from the puppy class in Tulsa today (10/30/04) So, pending AKC confirmation, Bogie is now officially known as CH Savanna's High Sierra HIC! Of course he will still be affectionately known by his closest friends as "Mr. Moxie." Congratulations Paul and Sue!

Windy and Duncan go herding in Nebraska! Windy earns her first HI leg under judge Carol Lucero, with a 3rd place in the class. Unfortunately, she was a little zoomie on Sunday and Sharol thought it best to retire without finishing their run. Duncan finished his PT easily at the same all-breed trial with very complimentary remarks from judges and experienced herding spectators alike! He has such wonderful potential and looks so handsome as he floats around the field! We are looking forward to watching him progress to advanced herding classes and titles to follow! Good dogs! Thanks to Sharol Hathaway for her skilled handling

Bogie and "Dads" earn their first Best of Breed, and another major in Memphis on October 9th, under judge, Joyce Geshwiler! We're so proud of you!

Windy and Roxanne -- together again! Warming up by winning BOS under judge, Lee Brown at the Stone City KC show -- who knows how far our two favorite red heads will go, but it is clear to see that they have great fun together, so we'll just have to wait and see! At the same show, Paul and Jake win WD/BW for more points! Unfortunately, the major broke -- but these 2 are becoming quite the team!

September:

Bogie and "Dads" earned their HIC at the "Terv-strava-ganza" herding clinic, at Smokey Ridge Farm in Kentucky. It looked as if Bogie was a herding pro! Good job boys! Check out the photos on Bogie's page.

July 2004

Waukesha Kennel Club, 7/25/2004
After a hiatus from the conformation ring of over a year to raise a litter and to earn some herding titles, Windy was awarded Best of Breed from a large entry of lovely specials, by esteemed breeder judge and Belgian matriarch, Edeltraud Laurin. Windy showed beautifully, and we are very proud of our girl and this win! We are also proud of Paul and Windy's son, Jake (Savanna's Reap The Wild Wind), who earned RWD at this same show. Jake showed beautifully and with a little more weight and maturity, they will be a team to watch!

Jake made his first overnight show trip to Louisville and earned his first points by winning WD/BOW for a 5 point major on Saturday, 3/13th! Then, after the show, we went back to Grammy Libbye's and played with the sheep. No points on Sunday, but Jake showed well again.

Fallon had her first ring experience in sweeps at the GLBTC Regional. She won her class (no competition this time) and had great fun! Due to schedule conflicts, we haven' t been able to get her to class yet, but didn't want to miss out on a wonderful opportunity for socialization.

On Saturday (3/6) at the Regional Specialty in March hosted by the Great Lakes Belgian Tervuren Club, Jake won his class in both sweeps and regular classes with competition and also took RWD! Paul and Jake are making quite the team!

October 2003

Cheered on by family and friends old and new, Windy easily earned a PT title over the weekend of October 4th and 5th with complementary remarks from judges Deborah Pollard and Terri Wilson. Windy was trained and handled by Sharol Hathaway and continues to show great promise in herding while having a great time. Sharol is a wonderful trainer and handler and the High Reaches Farm is a wonderful herding venue enjoyed by many with dogs of different breeds!

We believe that this was the first time that an AKC brace herding competition was offered, and the Hathaways' mother & daughter team of Skye and Kenya placed first in the class both days with BC competition!!!! It was amazing to watch this team work so well together. Maybe Windy and Fallon will be able to do this some day. Way to go Sean!

July 24, 2003

The litter was CERFed today and they all passed with flying colors! The puppies had great fun schmearing the Doctor's glasses with kisses and untying his shoe laces while the others were being examined! It was a fun outing -- and I'm sure the puppies were glad that they didn't have to get stuck with anything even once!

Summer 2003

Windy is doing some road work to get back into shape and build stamina after her litter. She is also back herding, and will be entering some trials this year as well. We'll also continue with our therapy visits because the folks we go to visit don't really care how much hair she has!

All of the puppies are going to homes where they will be loved companions first and foremost, but they will also actively participate in a variety of venues including conformation, agility, obedience, and tracking. Each puppy will have a page here so you can follow their exploits and see them grow up.

Our first litter of 5 (1 female and 4 males) was born without incident on May 23, 2003.
Windy is an excellent mother -- attentive, calm and patient. This litter was planned striving to reproduce the sound structure, movement, and exceptional temperament of both Windy and Quazar. We are very pleased with these puppies and we are excited about the promise they hold for the future of Savanna Belgians!

Well, we didn't make it to Westminster. Windy wasn't quite sure when she was going to come into season, and looked like she might try to during the time we would have been away from home for the show. Since our planned litter was our first priority, we passed on the show -- for this year!

Well, 2002 has come to an end. We are very pleased with Windy's accomplishments this year. In limited showing, Windy finished the year ranked as the #1 bitch for AKC All-breed points, and the #2 bitch in breed points. #7 and #9 Terv overall respectively. I haven't ever quite figured the calculations out, but I believe she will finish the year ranked at the #1 bitch with the American Belgian Tervuren Club as well. Windy was sidelined from injuries during November and December, so we were unable to show in Orlando or any Christmas show clusters.

October 2002
On October 5th & 6th, we took a break from the conformation ring to have some fun herding sheep! Windy easily earned her HT title with very complimentary remarks from judges Jean Clodwick and Dana Hasemeier. Windy really enjoys herding so look for more herding titles on her in the future!

Sunday, Windy was awarded BOB and a Group 3 by judge Randall Sheets, who judged both breed and group. **We have been fortunate to meet many very knowledgeable and pleasant judges in our "show career, " However, on Sunday, judge Randall Sheets was a pleasure to watch! Thorough but gentle exams, and a genuine smile on his face as he looked at each exhibit of every breed he judged -- ALL DAY LONG! It was abundantly clear that he really loves what he is doing.
