DUNCAN... Duncan finished his AKC championship easily from the puppy class, including a Puppy Herding Group 1 along the way. He also has wonderful instinct on sheep. He has a lovely, correct front and shoulder assembly that isn't often seen in Belgians today. Always the gentleman, he is confident with other dogs without being pushy. He is gentle with children and small dogs and cats. He is very eager to please and extremely biddable. After a short illness and rapid weight loss that caused us to fear for his life, we were relieved to discover that what he had is very treatable in his case, but a very under-diagnosed condition in Belgians -- Addison's Disease. He is the only case that we are aware of in his pedigree and an informal check with others within the Belgian community who keep health databases confirm this. If you have additional information about dogs known to have this condition (especially in his pedigree), we would value the information and use it for educational purposes only. While we had hoped to breed him when we found just the perfect girl to compliment him, this condition will prohibit that. Duncan will be neutered as soon as he has stabilized in his treatment protocol. Now, he will play the most important role of all -- loved companion and Belgian shadow-- a job at which he has always excelled!
